Construction Update August 29, 2019 – Important Street Closure Alert On San Jacinto Blvd

Lane Closure: Only the center lane of San Jacinto Blvd. will be open between MLK Blvd. and 18th street from September 7-21, 2019.

Street Closure: San Jacinto Blvd. will be CLOSED from MLK Blvd to 18th street from September 21 – November 25, 2019

Lane closures for utility work will continue through October

Closed: One eastbound lane of MLK Blvd.at Colorado will be CLOSED from September 6-20, 2019 . The bike lane is also closed. “Share the Road” and watch out for bikes.

Closed: One lane of Colorado between 17th Street and 16th Street will be CLOSED from August 28, 2019 through October 18, 2019. Flaggers on duty.

Closed: The outer southbound lane of San Jacinto from MLK Blvd. to 18th Street is closed. The sidewalk and bike lane are also closed. (This is not a TFC project.)

Closed Crosswalks and Sidewalks:

Closed: The south sidewalks and bike lane of MLK Blvd. from Congress to San Jacinto (from the Bullock Museum to the ERS building) is closed.

See the Safe Sidewalk Routes Map on wayfinding signboards at most intersections for best options.

To cross MLK Blvd. at:

Congress (at the Bullock Museum): Use the west crosswalk closest to the Blanton Café. Note: This intersection is now a pedestrian only crossing.

Brazos (at the ERS Building): Use the east crosswalk and sidewalk along the west side of the ERS building.

San Jacinto (to go to the Stadium or Capitol): Use the east crosswalk closest to the creek (nearest to Trinity St.)

Construction Project Updates

1801 Congress (site across from the Bullock): Look out for about 15-25 concrete truck daily entering the site from San Jacinto and 18th Street and exiting on Brazos onto MLK.

1601 Congress: The excavation is completed and foundation work on the walls of the site are now visible. Hauling trucks will continue to exit onto MLK through September.

Important Safety Reminders

DO NOT ENTER THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE.

WATCH YOUR STEP – There is uneven pavement everywhere due to the construction.

STOP – LOOK BOTH WAYS – SLOW DOWN – for pedestrians in the crosswalks and bikes along San Jacinto.

SAFE ROUTES – Use the Safe Sidewalks routes developed for this project. Follow the “yellow brick road” sidewalk routes. Look for updated wayfinding signs throughout the Capitol Complex.
