Construction Update, March 2, 2020

More work on 17th Street

For the moment, the utility work on Brazos between 16th and MLK Blvd. has been completed. However, there will be more utility work for the installation of the new storm water drainage system along 18th Street between Brazos and San Jacinto. This is important utility work for the Capitol Complex to reroute storm water from the complex into Waller creek at Trinity Street.

There are still no left turns at the intersection of 18th Street and San Jacinto and half a block of 18th Street remains closed. In mid-March, when this portion of the storm drain is completed, the other half of the block to Brazos Street will be excavated. Meanwhile, traffic to the ERS building should enter from Brazos Street. Access to the loading dock of the William B. Travis building (on Brazos) and the entrance to Garage R will remain open.

Please drive slowly through this congested area.

Other area construction news

The western (southbound) lane of traffic on San Jacinto between MLK Blvd. and 18th Street is closed for the project. This project is moving forward quickly and is expected to top out sometime in April. (This is not a TFC managed project.)
